"I came to Summit with 400 pages of rough manuscript and no idea how publishing worked. Six months later, I held a finished hardcover with distribution in three countries. They didn't just edit my book — they taught me how to think about it as a product."
— Declan Moriarty, Author of Fractured Latitude (2025)
We begin here — not with our credentials, but with the outcome. Because every book journey we guide starts with a writer who has something real to say and ends with a finished work that reaches readers.
The Timeline of a Book — How Summit Book Pros Came to Be
Studio Notes
Founded in West Layla, Ireland, Summit Book Pros grew from a single editorial desk in 2018 to a full-service publishing studio. We've worked with first-time memoirists, academic researchers, self-publishing novelists, and independent presses across Europe and North America.
2018 — The First Page
One Editor, One Mission
Our founder, a former acquisitions editor at a Dublin publishing house, noticed a gap: talented writers with finished drafts but no clear path to a professional book. The traditional publishing pipeline was slow, opaque, and often discouraging. Summit started as a freelance editing practice with a simple promise — treat every manuscript like it deserves to be on a shelf.
2020 — Expanding the Spine
Design, Formatting, and the Full Package
Editing alone wasn't enough. Authors needed cover design, interior typesetting, ISBN registration, and distribution guidance. We brought in a book designer from Cork and a digital formatting specialist. By late 2020, Summit could take a manuscript from raw draft to print-ready and e-book-ready files — all under one roof.
2022 — The Launch Chapter
Marketing, Metadata, and Market Entry
A beautiful book that nobody finds is a tragedy. We added launch strategy, metadata optimisation, Amazon and IngramSpark setup, and pre-launch review coordination. Our authors started appearing in bookshop windows, podcast interviews, and bestseller sub-lists. The studio had become a full publishing partner.
2024 — Present Day
We Don't Just Make Books. We Build Publishing Confidence.
Today, Summit Book Pros operates as a boutique publishing studio. We work with a limited number of authors at any time — typically eight to twelve active projects — so every book gets the attention it deserves. Our process is transparent, our timelines are honest, and our goal is always the same: a book you're proud of, in the hands of readers who need it.
The Publishing Roadmap — From Draft to Distribution
Every project follows a tailored version of this roadmap. Some authors arrive at Stage 1; others join at Stage 3 with a polished manuscript that needs design and distribution. We meet you where you are.
Stage 1
Manuscript Assessment
We read your full manuscript and deliver a candid, structured report: what's working, what needs attention, and a recommended editorial path. No vague encouragement — real, actionable feedback.
Stage 2
Developmental & Line Editing
Structure, pacing, voice, clarity. We work through your manuscript chapter by chapter, then refine at the sentence level. Two rounds of editing with tracked changes and editorial notes.
Stage 3
Proofreading & Final Polish
The last editorial pass. Typos, inconsistencies, formatting errors, and style-guide compliance. Your manuscript emerges clean, consistent, and production-ready.
Stage 4
Cover Design & Interior Layout
Custom cover design (not templates), professional interior typesetting for print and e-book, and all production files you need for any platform or printer.
Stage 5
Publishing & Distribution Setup
ISBN registration, barcode generation, Amazon KDP and IngramSpark setup, metadata optimisation, and category/keyword strategy. Your book becomes discoverable.
Stage 6
Launch Strategy & Author Support
Pre-launch review copies, press release drafting, social media assets, launch-week coordination, and ongoing author platform guidance. We stay with you past publication day.
"The roadmap they laid out in our first call was exactly what I needed — I could see every step, every cost, every timeline. No surprises. That's rare in this industry."
— Fionnuala Brennan, Author of Tidal Patterns

Case Narrative
From Academic Thesis to Published Monograph in 14 Weeks
Dr. Aoife Gallagher had spent three years on her doctoral research in marine ecology. The university press timeline was 18 months minimum. She came to Summit with a 280-page thesis and a tight deadline for a conference presentation.
We restructured the thesis into a readable monograph, designed a cover that worked for both academic and trade audiences, and had print copies ready in 14 weeks. The book was available on Amazon, in university bookshops, and at her conference — on time.
"Summit understood academic publishing but moved at a pace that traditional presses simply can't match." — Dr. A. Gallagher
Readiness Check
Is Your Manuscript Ready for Us?
Not every project is the right fit, and we'd rather be honest upfront. Use this self-assessment to gauge where you are — and whether Summit is the right partner for your current stage.
I have a completed first draft (or close to it)
You're ready. A completed draft — even a rough one — is our starting point. We don't require perfection; we require commitment. If you have 40,000+ words and a clear sense of your book's purpose, we can begin with a manuscript assessment.
I have an idea but haven't started writing
Not yet — but we can help. We offer a one-off Book Blueprint consultation where we help you outline your structure, identify your audience, and create a writing plan. Once you have a draft, come back and we'll take it from there.
I've already been edited — I just need design and production
Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us at Stage 4. We'll review your edited manuscript for production readiness, then handle cover design, interior layout, and all file preparation. You can enter the roadmap at any point.
I want to publish through a traditional publisher, not self-publish
We can still help. Our editorial services strengthen your manuscript for agent submissions and publisher pitches. We also offer query letter and synopsis support. However, our design and distribution services are geared toward independent and hybrid publishing.
My book is already published but needs a new edition or rebrand
We do this regularly. Second editions, new covers, updated interiors, format conversions, and expanded distribution. If your existing book deserves a fresh start, we can make it happen without starting from scratch.
Author Feedback
"I'd worked with two other editing services before Summit. The difference was night and day — they actually understood narrative structure, not just grammar."
— Ronan Kearney, Fiction
Author Feedback
"The cover they designed stopped people in bookshops. Literally — I watched it happen at my launch event."
— Niamh Cassidy, Memoir
Working Principles
How We Work With You
Transparent pricing. We quote per-project, not per-hour. You'll know the full cost before we start, with payment split across milestones. No hidden fees, no scope creep charges.
Direct communication. You work with your editor and designer directly — no account managers, no ticket systems. Email, video calls, and shared documents. We respond within one business day.
Realistic timelines. A typical full-service project takes 10–16 weeks depending on manuscript length and complexity. Rush timelines are available for an additional fee, but we'll never sacrifice quality for speed.
Your rights, always. We are a service provider, not a publisher. You own your work, your ISBN, your files, and your royalties. We never take a percentage of sales.

Common Questions
Before You Reach Out
How much does a full-service book project cost?
Pricing depends on manuscript length, complexity, and which stages you need. A typical full-service project for a 70,000-word manuscript ranges from €3,200 to €5,800. We provide a detailed, itemised quote after reviewing your manuscript — always before any commitment.
Do you work with authors outside Ireland?
Yes. Roughly a third of our clients are based in the UK, continental Europe, or North America. All communication and file exchange happens digitally. We've successfully published books for authors in nine countries.
What genres do you work with?
We work across literary fiction, memoir, narrative non-fiction, academic monographs, business books, poetry collections, and children's books (middle-grade and young adult). We do not currently handle highly technical scientific publishing or textbooks with complex equation typesetting.
Can I use my own cover designer and just hire you for editing?
Absolutely. Our services are modular. You can engage us for any single stage or any combination. Many authors come to us for editing only, or for design and production only.
What happens after my book is published?
We provide 60 days of post-launch support included in full-service packages: monitoring sales dashboards, adjusting metadata, coordinating any corrections, and answering distribution questions. After that, ongoing support is available on a retainer basis.
